This memorial website was created in the memory of our son, brother, uncle and our loved one, Gerald Miller who was born in Wisonsin on September 08, 1975 and passed away on July 31, 2006 at the age of 30, at his home in Minneapolis, Minnesota. We will miss, love and remember him forever... Jerry's spirit name is Waa-say-giizhig meaning "Bright Sky". He is a member of the Lake Superior Band of Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe Indians. He is a member of the Bear Clan.
Gerald Travis was born September 8, 1975 in Hayward and attended the Hayward Community School District, graduating in 1993. During high school, Jerry worked at Tony's Fireside. He attended the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire, studying accounting. Jerry worked as a cashier for the LCO Casino before relocating to Minneapolis in 1996. While living in Minneapolis, he worked as a teller for Wells Fargo, financial advisor for American Express and most recently as a cashier for Mystic Lake Casino. Jerry enjoyed socializing and spending time with friends, especially his best friend "Star" (Quaderer) Boss. He liked making people laugh, making music cd's, shopping with his friends and his niece Erin. He enjoyed hanging out with his sister Autumn and friend Wallace. He also enjoyed taking care of his pet dog "Sammi" and working on his computer. He is survived by his parents, Jerry and Neomi; niece Erin Miller; grandparents Ellen Gordon, Beatrice hall, Arlene and Vernon Isham; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his sister Autumn; brother Michael; grandparents Woodrow Corbine, Exilda Miller; uncles Joseph "Joker" Corbine, Peter Hall, Tom, Ed and Roger Miller; and aunt Nyla Miller.
The Mass of Christian Buriel was held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 5 at St. Frances Solanus Indian Mission in Reserve. Father Gregory Hopefl officiated, with music provided by Sister Felissa Zabder and Sarah Taylor-Cormell. Buriel was in St. Frances Cemetary in Reserve. Visitation was held beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 3 at Pineview Funeral Service in Hayward. There was also Tribal Rites held beginning with a feast at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home with Robert "Bobby" Williams officiating.
Honorary casketbearers were: Wabanung "Star" Boss, Ariana Barber, Sarah Taylor-Cormell, Utina Malnourie, Casey Miller, Christie Quaderer, Angela Rusk, Dolly Rusk, Misty Woller and special friends Wallace Fleming and Travis Schille.
Casketbearers were Arnold Corbine Sr., Thomas Corbine, Glen Froemel, Guy "Tiffy" Hall, and Joe McMahon. Pinewood Funeral Services assisted the family with the arrangements.
